Photinia fraseri ‘Red Robin’
Habit: Usually a small shrub here, larger in favourable areas, 1.5-3 m tall and wide, loosely upright.
Flowers: White panicles; May to June, pungent smell.
Fruits: Rare, pea-size, red, mealy.
Leaves: Evergreen, elliptical; splendid, exceptional light red to crimson shoots in May, gradually bronze and shiny green in summer.
Demands: Sun to light shade, likes warmth, sensitive to frost, grateful for protected areas; likes high humidity.
Soil: Moderately dry to moist, acidic to alkaline; all well-drained substrates.
